First Day

Today is E's first day in Kdg.  She is beyond excited!!!  She loves her friends and is thrilled that there will be lots of new friends this year.  Last year she was one of four girls.  This year is a better split with 7 girls and 8 boys.  I can't wait to hear how today went for her.

K on the other hand was not as happy about school starting again.  He hollered all the way home - which took us 15 minutes as opposed to the 2 it took to get there!  P did drop offs in the morning so I need to learn a better route home.  Once home, he cried at the door for Nay-na.  It will take a few days but we'll all get better at this.

Check ups

The check ups are over.  All of them had to get shots.  K was in my arms playing with the otoscope when the Dr. gave him his shot in the arm.  The look he gave the Dr. was priceless.  It was like he was saying, "I'm playing here, man.  Quit messing with me."  E got to sit on the saddle for hers while I gave her bear hugs to keep her from moving.  She had to get one in each arm.  She was so brave.  I really expected her to cry but she held it in.  Then there's poor C.  He had to get 6 shots!  The dr. has a neat device that can give up to three shots at once but still that is three needles going in you at once.  He cried.  And cried.  And cried some more.  His face was all splotchy from all the tears.  :(

E weighed in at 29.8 pounds and is 40 inches tall.
K weighed in at 25.2 pounds and is 33 inches tall.
C weighed in at 21.68 pounds and is 31 inches tall.

I really expected C to be at least the same weight as K.  Maybe he has dropped some since he runs all over the place these days.  I know we weighed him a couple months back and he was over 22 pounds so we switched out car seats.

Zip Line

Earlier this summer we went to a friend's house to see their new baby goats and they had some fun toys.  The zip line was great!  E held on tight and did beautiful dismounts.  That is until I decided to back up from the end of the line to get a better video of her jumping off.
Oops!  Guess I should have warned her.  She has bounced back from it and is ready to try the zip line again.

Banananananana

How many syllables can you count in the word banana????

Tug-of-War

K loves animals.  Here is a brief video of him playing tug-of-war with Boomer.  He didn't like it at the end when Boomer got the toy and jumped in mom's lap with it!

Swimming

Here is our last swim trip this summer.  We headed over to Meme Connie's to cool off.  It was so hot outside the water felt more like a hot tub than a refreshing swimming pool!
The hat is really C's but K insisted on wearing it and C didn't want it on at all!
C played for a bit then decided he was finished.
E and K took turns jumping off the slide for me to catch.

Driving

Too bad it is not legal for K to drive.  I'd love to sit back and be chauffered around.  He loves to drive.  Everything he touches becomes some sort of vehicle - even his food!
It was so hot on our last trip to OK we didn't get to spend much time outside.  K did manage to get in a little driving.  He went round and round the pasture.  He even helped move dirt with the big tractor one morning.  He quickly learned the up/down lever and didn't need anymore help - except to reach the peddles.

C's birthday

The last of our summer birthdays have been celebrated.  C turned ONE!  (Thanks Aunt Leah for the cute bib!)

He is into everything.  He can pretty well hold his own with the other two.  The other day he stole K's corn dog and ran!  He managed to get a bite before I got it from him.  He stood there chewing and smiling at K the whole time.  Then the little sneak tried it again.  He likes loves to eat.  It's not like he was hungry.  He had just finished his own dinner!  His check up is today.  I would bet he outweighs K already.

C was quite a surprise addition to our family but I LOVE surprises.  He has been such a joy.  He signed his first word at dinner yesterday...MORE!  He did that over and over.  I guess I was too slow in between bites.  He is also cutting three teeth right now - possibly four or more.  That has made him a little irritable and not such a great sleeper but it'll pass.  I'm sad Mortin was recalled because now all we have is generic Tylenol to help ease the pain.  The teething tablets and gum stuff didn't seem to do anything but make him mad.  :)

Happy birthday C!  We love you!!!

Happy Birthday E!

Happy Birthday sweet E!

We celebrated E's 5th birthday with friends and then again today with just family.  She wanted a luau with her friends.  That made it easy.  Pull out the water slide, order her favorite - pizza, make cupcakes.

I know not all birthdays will be this easy to pull off but I'll enjoy it now while it's low key.  The big toy of the year was Barbies!  We went from none to 5 just like that!  She loved it.  She disappeared to her room for hours of play.  Hmmm...this might be a good thing for me too!  Her favorite by far is the one from Aunt Leah.  That one has been her dream for quite some time now.  I may never get her out of the tub now that she has the mermaid Barbie.
